My final piece for identity will be based upon my work for Adam Hale. I will be creating a stop motion animation using a new photoshoot and new collage material in order to try and experiment with different ideas that I have for this project. What I believe I will most likely do is to have an image of a face that gradually separates and then has something growing from the hole that is left. It will not be done on a a large scale considering the difficulty of stop motion animation but I will try to make it as smooth of a short film as I can.

The images here are what I will be basing my work off on but it will not be exactly like any of them,. The new photoshoot and the project itself would make it so that the image I use will have to have much less depth than these, and be less striking, so as to not detract from the rest that will be happening.

The process.

To create this stop motion animation, first I chose a space fitting for what I needed to do. I was given a stand so that I could steadily record the stop motion and printed off the same image multiple times so that I would be able to redo the process if necessary. What I would do was to first chose my image and print it multiple times. I would then take this image, place it onto the background piece of paper, cut it and move the separate piece into different positions slowly, all whilst taking images after every slight movement. As it went on I would move onto adding an flower growing from the space left behind from the moving component and laslty put a petal over the screen to signal the end of the piece,

Final Piece

Whilst my final piece can be said t have been successful I recognise that there are many areas that would need improvement. These come not only from the smaller things such as the orientation of the camera but to other things as well. Especially in the beginning, for minor movements I would add too many frames to the point where it looks like a static image at some points. Furthermore even with the stand, the angle of the camera still changed and that also needs to be something I revisit. Finally one last thing is that many areas of this seem too clunky, and so I will have to think more about how things will lead to each other, and also a more precise way to move the separate components of the piece other than my fingers, which I believe often times made me redo many bits of the process.
